OPERATION

MAINTENANCE

WARNING:

When servicing, use only identical replacement parts.

Use of any other parts may create a hazard or cause

product damage.

WARNING:

Always wear safety goggles or safety glasses with side

shields during power product operation or when blowing

dust. If operation is dusty, also wear a dust mask.

WARNING:

To avoid serious personal injury, always remove the

battery pack from the product when cleaning or

performing any maintenance.

GENERAL MAINTENANCE

Avoid using solvents when cleaning plastic parts. Most

plastics are susceptible to damage from various types of

commercial solvents and may be damaged by their use. Use

clean cloths to remove dirt, dust, oil, grease, etc.

WARNING:

Do not at any time let brake fluids, gasoline, petroleum-

based products, penetrating oils, etc., come in contact

with plastic parts. Chemicals can damage, weaken or

destroy plastic which may result in serious personal

injury.

Only the parts shown on the parts list are intended to be

repaired or replaced by the customer. All other parts should

be replaced at an Authorized Service Center.

BATTERY PACK REMOVAL AND PREPARATION

FOR RECYCLING

WARNING:

Upon removal, cover the battery pack’s terminals with

heavy-duty adhesive tape. Do not attempt to destroy or

disassemble battery pack or remove any of its compo-

nents. Lithium-ion and nickel-cadmium batteries must

be recycled or disposed of properly. Also, never touch

both terminals with metal objects and/or body parts as

short circuit may result. Keep away from children. Failure

to comply with these warnings could result in fire and/

or serious injury.

DRIVING NAILS

See Figures 4 - 6, page 9.

 Secure the workpiece with clamps.

 Steady the nail at the desired point on the workpiece by

holding the nail shaft with your hand.

 Depress the trigger enough to drive the nail partially into

the workpiece. Drive the nail far enough so that it does

not wobble.

 Move your hand away from the nail.

 Depress the trigger and continue to hammer until the nail

head is flush with the workpiece.

 Do not place your hand or fingers near the nail head while

the tool is hammering. Use your hand only to hold the

nail on the workpiece at the beginning of hammering.

 Use caution at when driving the nail close to the

workpiece. You can damage the workpiece around the

nail head if the nail is driven too far.

For best results:

 Do not force the tool, apply side pressure, or place your

other hand on the head of the tool.

 Do not drive nails close to the edge of the workpiece to

help prevent splintering or splitting the wood.

 Do not use the auto hammer for nailing into hard metals

or concrete.

 Do not nail into knots or other grain patterns that may

create difficulty in driving the nail.

NOTE: With extended use, nails may leave a residue on the

anvil inside the hammering head, resulting in black marks on

the workpiece. To prevent this, clean the anvil periodically.

 Remove the battery pack.

 Push back the outer sleeve of the hammering head to

expose the anvil.

 Wipe the anvil with a clean, dry cloth.
